NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont women's tennis team won their third straight match as they concluded the season with a 5-2 road victory over rival Lipscomb in an Atlantic Sun Conference match held Saturday in Nashville. The win also marked Belmont's 12th win in 13 matches with the Lady Bisons in the Division I era.
The Lady Bisons picked up the first point of the match as they won two of the three doubles matches. The lone Belmont win came at number three as Catherine Holliday and Natalia Nunes beat Julieanne McMeen and Carlina Jow 8-6.
In singles, the Bruins showed their dominance, winning five of the six matches in straight sets. Senior Abby Leatherwood beat Kara Jackson at number one 6-2, 6-4, while at number two, sophomore Fabiana Mersan defeated Elizabeth Keevil 6-1, 6-1. Senior Lindsay Bennett closed out her BU career at number three with a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Alyssa Bellini. At the fifth spot, junior Laura Stack beat Julieanne McMeen 6-2, 6-4, while at number six Abigail Hogan defeated Carlina Jow 6-2, 6-4.
The women's tennis team ends their season with an overall record of 8-12, 3-7 in the Atlantic Sun.
