SPARTANBURG, S.C. - - Belmont men's basketball returns to action Saturday at USC Upstate.
The Bruins turned in one of their most complete performances of the season in defeating FGCU Jan. 16. Belmont had 27 assists on 35 made field goals, forced 18 FGCU turnovers, and outrebounded the Eagles 40-22. Senior Drew Hanlen (St. Louis, Mo.) nearly recorded the program's first NCAA era triple-double, tallying nine points, nine assists and eight rebounds.
Belmont has defeated USC Upstate eight consecutive times, but all four victories at the G.B. Hodge Center have been hard earned. Consider that in the four road victories, the Bruins' average margin of victory is eight points per game; compared to an average margin of victory of 21.5 points per game at the Curb Event Center.
Belmont redshirt sophomore Blake Jenkins (Knoxville, Tenn.) and USC Upstate freshman Ty Greene both attended Bearden High School in Knoxville, Tenn.
Belmont junior Ian Clark (Memphis, Tenn.) is averaging 16.3 points per game in four career games against USC Upstate.
Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. ET/1 p.m. CT. The live play-by-play of Voice of the Bruins Kevin Ingram can be heard on the Bruin Sports Network. Live video streaming will be available via ASun.TV.
