NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont men's basketball returns home this weekend, hosting Jacksonville Saturday.
Belmont defeated ETSU, 82-70, Jan. 23. The Bruins held the Bucs to 12 first half points - the fewest allowed by a Belmont team in the NCAA era. Junior Adam Barnes (Clarksville, Tenn.) was one of five Bruins in double figures with a career-high 12 points and five rebounds.
Jan. 25, senior Mick Hedgepeth (Crossville, Ala.) was named as one of 10 finalists for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award - given annually to a men's basketball student-athlete who excels in areas of community, classroom, character and competition.
Belmont is averaging 79.4 points per game in seven games vs. Jacksonville at the Curb Event Center. Junior Kerron Johnson (Huntsville, Ala.) is averaging 14.8 points per game in his last four games against Jacksonville.
This marks the 21st meeting between Belmont and Jacksonville, with the Bruins holding a 14-6 series lead. Belmont won 75-63 in Jacksonville Jan. 4, with senior Drew Hanlen (St. Louis, Mo.) scoring a career-high 19 points.
