FORT MYERS, Fla. - - Belmont men's basketball opens a two-game road trip Saturday at Florida Gulf Coast.
Belmont forced 21 turnovers and had 26 assists on 35 made field goals in defeating Austin Peay, 94-55, Feb. 6. Senior Scott Saunders scored 18 points for the Bruins.
Belmont handed out 27 assists against FGCU Jan. 16, 2012 - three off of the season-high and Curb Event Center record of 30 assists set against Kennesaw State (12/1/11). 12 Bruins scored in the game.
Belmont freshmen Chad Lang and Spencer Turner each recorded season-highs in scoring against the Eagles. Lang scored eight points, while Turner scored nine points.
Over its last seven games, Belmont is averaging a halftime lead of 17.5 points per game: 43.1 to 25.6.
This marks the ninth meeting between Belmont and FGCU. The Bruins hold a 6-2 series lead, which includes victory earlier this season in Nashville.
