CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- After picking up the first win of the season earlier in the day, Belmont (1-10) fell to Dayton, 11-3 in five innings on Saturday afternoon in the UTC Frost Classic. The Bruins will wrap up play in the tournament on Sunday morning with a 10 a.m. game against Valparaiso.
Belmont took a 3-1 lead in the top of the second inning before Dayton tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the third. The Flyers rattled off five runs in the bottom of the fourth and then added three more bottom of the fifth inning to reach the final 3-11 margin. The Bruins finished the game with three runs on four hits and committed three errors. Dayton had no errors, 11 hits and 11 runs, as well as two home runs. Belmont was led by senior Hannah Irwin who finished with one hit and two RBIs on her two-out single in the second.
