BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The Belmont women's tennis team fell to Central Arkansas 4-3 in a match played indoors on Saturday night at the Wildwood Club in Brentwood.
The Bruins picked up the first point of the match as they won two of the three doubles matches. At number two, Catherine Holliday and Fabiana Mersan beat Simona Horsikyan and Kazumi Otani 8-4, while at number three, Carolyn Caire and Natalia Nunes defeated Kristina Horsikyan and Sasha Ruocco 8-3.
In singles, the Bears stormed back, winning four of the six singles matches to clinch the victory over the Bruins 4-3. Belmont's two wins came at positions four and five. At four, Carolyn Caire defeated Allison Hartman 6-4, 6-2. Laura Stack won at number five over Sasha Ruocco in three sets: 6-2, 2-6, 7-5.
Belmont (3-6) is now off for the next two weeks. They return to the courts on Saturday, March 17th as they host Lipscomb in their A-Sun opener.
