NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont Basketball returns to action Monday, hosting Austin Peay in non-conference play.
Belmont limited Lipscomb to 37 percent shooting and outrebounded the Bison, 41-28, in claiming an 84-58 victory Feb. 3. Senior Drew Hanlen (St. Louis, Mo.) made his first seven three-point field goal attempts in scoring a career-high 21 points for the Bruins.
Belmont head coach Rick Byrd and Austin Peay head coach Dave Loos are the two winningest active head coaches in the state of Tennessee. Together they have a combined 1,069 victories and 48 years of service at their schools.
Belmont redshirt junior Adam Barnes is from Clarksville, Tenn. and graduated from Clarksville High School.
This marks the 40th meeting between Belmont and Austin Peay. The Bruins won at the Governors, 77-67, Dec. 21 behind 23 points and 11 rebounds from Scott Saunders. The game will serve as a prelude for regular meetings for years to come as Belmont joins Austin Peay in the Ohio Valley Conference in 2012-13.
