NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont men's tennis team picked up their fourth win of the season as they defeated rival Lipscomb 5-2 in an Atlantic Sun Conference match played Saturday at Centennial Sportsplex in Nashville.
The match started with singles. The Bruins captured four of the six matches to take the early 4-0 lead. At number one, junior Renato Antun beat Oliver Strecker 7-5, 6-0. At the second position, junior Henrique Norbiato defeated David Salazar 6-2, 6-0. In the number three match, senior Rodrigo Amaral beat Daniel Hernandez 3-6, 6-0, 6-4, while at number four, junior Fernando Musolini outlasted Stuart Tierney 6-2, 4-6, 6-3.
In doubles, Belmont continued their strong play as they won two of the three matches to win the doubles point and clinch the match victory 5-2. At number one, Antun and Matos beat Strecker and Miguel Cortez 8-4, while at number two, Amaral and Norbiato defeated Tierney and Tanner Brown 8-4.
Belmont (4-8, 1-0 A-Sun) returns to the court on Monday as they will complete their halted match with MTSU from last Thursday. The match will restart at 2:00pm in Murfreesboro.
