OXFORD, MS- Belmont (1-12) fell in five innings to Troy in the first game of the Ole Miss Red and Blue Classic. The Bruins scored two runs, including one on a home run from senior Ashley Byers, but surrendered 10 runs to the Trojans. Belmont will be back in action at 12:30 p.m. against Chattanooga.
Byers, the school's all-time home run leader with 21, recorded her second home run of the season. Freshman Kat Hollingsworth batted in the other Bruin run. Belmont managed only four hits while surrendering 10 and committing four errors. The Bruins are still looking to put together a complete game offensively and defensively and will look to improve for the afternoon game against Chattanooga.
