Belmont Plays Tennessee Tech and Vandy This Week

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Belmont baseball team (23-10, 10-2 A-Sun) will play a pair of non-conference contests in Nashville this week, before heading to Macon for a three-game league series at Mercer.  The Bruins host Tennessee Tech (13-17, 5-4 OVC) on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., and will play at Vanderbilt (13-19, 4-8 SEC) on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

Belmont has now won seven straight games and nine out of its last 10 contests, landing the Bruins at 18th in the most recent College Baseball Daily Mid-Major Poll.  BU swept a pair of Atlantic Sun Conference series at Jacksonville and against USC Upstate, and won a single tilt at Austin Peay to make up the recent run.

Tennessee Tech comes to Nashville with a record of 13-17, but has won four of its last six games, which included a three-game sweep of Murray State.  The Golden Eagles are only 3-9 on the road this season, but are batting .294 as a team.  Tech is led at the plate by Zach Stephens, who is batting .468 with seven doubles, 14 home runs, and 37 runs batted in.

Vanderbilt, which came to Rose Park and lost 6-5 back on March 6, will welcome the Bruins to Hawkins Field with a 13-19 record but a 12-10 home mark.  The Commodores have alternated wins and losses over the last eight games, recently dropping two of three at Mississippi State.  Anthony Gomez leads Vandy in both average and RBI, recording marks of .346 and 28, respectively.

Tuesday's contest will feature Live Stats, as well as Audio and Video courtesy of BelmontBruins.com, the Bruins Sports Network and ASun.TV.  Wednesday's game at Vanderbilt can be followed through VU's Game Tracker, audio on the Bruins Sports Network, and Vandy Video.
