Western Kentucky and Tennessee Tech Up Next For Baseball

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Belmont baseball team (25-13, 11-4 A-Sun) returns to action this week with a pair of non-conference contests against two teams the Bruins have already defeated once this season.  BU hosts Western Kentucky (14-21, 6-9 Sun Belt) on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., and plays at Tennessee Tech (15-20, 6-6 OV) on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.

The Bruins are coming off of a difficult weekend in Macon, Georgia, where Belmont dropped two out of three games to Mercer.  It took until the 13th inning, and after four hours and 45 minutes of play - nearly and hour and a half longer than any Belmont game this season - for the Bruins to top the Bears in the final game of the series to avoid the first weekend sweep of BU in 2012.

The Hilltoppers, who Belmont defeated 6-5 in Bolwing Green back on March 20, will come to Nashville with a record of 14-21, having just dropped two out of three games at Arkansas State this weekend.  Western Kentucky has been led by Scott Wilcox's .306 batting average and 32 walks at the  plate.  Ryan Hutchison leads the team with 31 RBI and four home runs this season.

Tennessee Tech came to Nashville just last week, falling to the Bruins by a score of 8-1.  The Golden Eagles now have a record of 15-20 after winning only one out of three at home against SIU Edwardsville this weekend.  Zach Stephens, who was intentionally walked twice by BU last week, continues to lead Tech with a .431 batting average, 14 home runs, and 39 runs batted in.

Both games during the midweek will feature audio on the Bruins Sports Network, while Tuesday's home contest will be on ASun.TV.  Tuesday's live stats can be found on BelmontBruins.com, while Wednesday's stats can be viewed at TTUSports.com.  Be sure to follow @BelmontBaseball on Twitter for in-game updates.
