Baseball Hosts UT-Martin Tuesday Night

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Belmont baseball team (27-16, 12-6 A-Sun) will host UT-Martin (10-29, 4-11 OVC) Tuesday night at 5:30 p.m. before taking a week off for finals.  The last time the Bruins and Skyhawks met, BU swept Martin in a doubleheader, setting an NCAA record with 19 first-inning runs in game one.

Belmont is coming off of a disappointing 1-2 weekend at Kennesaw State that saw the Bruins lose by one run on both Friday and Sunday, and win Saturday's contest by a score of 11-1.  BU holds a dominating 17-6 record in the friendly confines of Rose Park, winning five in a row at the home stadium.  The Bruins will send freshman Austin Coley (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) to the mound in his first start of the season.

UT-Martin comes to Nashville with a record of 10-29, having won just one out of 20 games on the road this season.  The Skyhawks have lost five straight contests, recently getting swept by SIU Edwardsville in conference play.  UT-Martin will start Danny Kelley, who is 0-3 with an ERA of 7.94 in three starts in 2012.  Jordan Owen leads the Skyhawks with a .338 average, seven home runs and 23 RBI at the plate.

Tuesday's contest will be featured on ASun.TV.  Live audio can be accessed through the Bruins Sports Network, and live stats are available at BelmontBruins.com.  Don't forget to follow @BelmontBaseball on Twitter for news and updates on all things Belmont Baseball.
