JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Belmont men's tennis team lost to #52 North Florida 4-3 in an Atlantic Sun Conference match played Friday afternoon in Jacksonville, Florida.
The nationally ranked Ospreys won the first point of the match as they swept all three doubles matches.
In singles, UNF took an early 3-0 lead as they picked up wins at the number one and four positions. The Bruins stormed back as they captured wins at numbers three, five and six. Senior Rodrigo Amaral won at number three over Pedro Davisson in three sets, while Rafael Matos beat Graham Edgar at number five in three sets. At number six, Bruno Silva defeated Timo Kranz in straight sets. However, UNF staved off the Bruin rally as Daniel Sotomarino beat Henrique Norbiato at number two to clinch the 4-3 win.
Belmont (6-12, 3-3) returns to the court tomorrow as they play at Jacksonville beginning at 1:00pm CT.
