NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Belmont baseball team (29-19, 13-8 A-Sun) will play its penultimate non-conference game of the regular season on Wednesday. The Bruins head back on the road to play UT Martin (12-34, 6-15 OVC) for the second time this season. The game's first pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m., as Belmont attempts to sweep the Skyhawks in the season series.
Belmont will attempt to get out of its miniature skid as of late, losing six out of the last nine games on its schedule. The Bruins are coming off of two straight losses to North Florida, but remain in second place in the Atlantic Sun Conference standings with a mark of 13-8. Belmont will send freshman Dan Ludwig (Naperville, Ill.) to the mound in what will be a staff day. Last week Ludwig pitched five perfect innings before handing the ball over to the bullpen in a 1-0 loss to Evansville in 11 innings.
UT Martin welcomes Belmont to town with an overall record of 12-34 and an Ohio Valley Conference mark of 6-15. Since falling to Belmont by a score of 6-3 on April 24, the Skyhawks have went 2-4, losing home conference series to Southeast Missouri and Eastern Kentucky. UTM is led at the plate by Jordan Owen, who is batting .341 with 10 doubles, five triples, and seven home runs.
Wednesday's contest will be featured on the Bruins Sports Network, and live stats can be found on UTMSports.com. Fans can also follow the action with the Belmont Baseball Twitter Feed.
