SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - - Belmont University men's soccer opens its 2012 campaign Friday night at Missouri State.
The Bruins defeated Christian Brothers University Aug. 15 to open exhibition play. Belmont returns all-conference standouts Brandon Tarr (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Nico Olsak (Boca Raton, Fla.), as well as the netminding duo of Lou Manning (Southlake, Texas) and Sheldon Medici (Washington, Mich.).
Missouri State earned a share of the 2011 Missouri Valley Conference regular season title, and enters this season picked second in the MVC behind perennial national power, Creighton.
As fate would have it, this is a rematch of last year's season opener. Belmont claimed a dramatic 2-1 victory, with Tarr scoring with 17 seconds remaining in regulation off a service from Diego Figueroa (Pensacola, Fla.).
Game time is set for 8 p.m. CT.
