Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Belmont women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 contest to Austin Peay on a cold and rainy Sunday afternoon at Rose Park.
Belmont (3-6-2) came into the match looking to ride the momentum of the thrilling last second victory against Murray State as the Bruins jumped out in front early in the first half.
Bruin defender Alison Alcott (Dallas, Texas) soared a free kick at the top of the box past the APSU goal keeper to give Belmont the early advantage six minutes into the match.
Austin Peay (7-1-1) answered midway through the first half as APSU's Andy Quiceno tied up the match in the 28th minute.
The two teams went into the half even.
In the second half Austin Peay tallied a pair of goals within a span of 10 minutes in order to notch a 3-1 victory over the Bruins.
In the 55th minute, APSU's Frankie Carbajal headed in a corner kick from Natalia Ariza while Austin Peay's Mary Ruth Locastro notched the final goal of the match in the 65th minute.
Belmont goalkeeper Nicole Berner (Randolph, N.J.) tallied four saves on the afternoon for the Bruins.
Belmont returns to action this Friday, Oct. 11, as the Bruins host Jacksonville State for a 5 p.m. OVC match with the Gamecocks.
