NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont women's basketball team (2-4) will be looking to rebound when it returns to the confines of the Curb Event Center. The Bruins host Kent State (1-3) for a Sunday matinee.
The Golden Flashes come to Nashville with a 1-3 record, after dropping its third consecutive game two days ago at Arkansas State, 92-61.
Kent State is led in scoring by Larissa Lurken and Amber Dunlap, who are both averaging 10.3 point per outing. CiCi Shannon leads the Golden Flashes in rebounds, grabbing 6.3 per game.
This will be the first meeting between the programs.
Belmont is on the hunt for its first win in three chances after stumbling on the road at No. 18/22 Purdue on Friday. Freshman Meredith Roman (Nashville, Tenn.) led all scorers with a game and season-high 14 points. Junior Jordyn Luffman (Lawrenceburg, Tenn.) notched her third double-double of the season with 10 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Junior Adrienne Tarrence (Bowling Green, Ky.) recorded two blocks while classmate Katie Carroll (Lilburn, Ga.) finished with a team-high three assists.
Luffman leads the Bruins in scoring and rebounds, averaging 15.2 points and 8.8 boards per game. Tarrence leads the team in assists with a total of 22 while sophomore Blair Bryce (Red Oak, Texas) leads the team in blocks with a total of four.
Fans who donate two (2) non-perishable food items at the Curb Event Center Box Office will receive a single basketball game ticket at the group ticket rate, along with an entry to win two all-session passes to the 2014 OVC Basketball Tournament. One winner of the all-session tournament passes will be announced at each game. Donation ticket prices are $3 for adults and $1 for youth for women's games.
Fans are encouraged to donate (non-perishable) food items to help those in need. The most-needed food items are:
• Canned fruit, vegetables, soup and stews
• Canned tuna or chicken
• Peanut butter
• Cereal
• Pasta
