NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont women's tennis team fell to Northern Iowa 4-3 in a non-conference match played Friday afternoon at Centennial Sportsplex in Nashville.
UNI picked up the first point of the match as they swept both doubles matches. The third doubles match was not contested.
In singles, BU took the early lead. They won the match at number six by default and then senior Natalia Nunes beat Lindsay Cayton 6-0, 6-1. The Bruin lead increased to 3-1 when senior Carolyn Caire defeated Jessica King 6-1, 6-2. But then the Panthers fought back and posted wins at positions one, two and three, to clinch the match victory 4-3.
Belmont (4-4) is back in action tomorrow as they open OVC play at Jacksonville State. The match is set for 10:00am in Jacksonville, Alabama.
