NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont men's tennis team fell to DePaul 4-3 in a non-conference match played Wednesday afternoon at the Centennial Sportsplex in Nashville.
The visiting Blue Demons picked up the first point of the match as they captured two of the three doiubles matches. The lone Belmont win came at number two as Fernando Mussolini and Navarro Veys beat Matthias Hambach and Jan-Willem Feilzer 8-4.
In singles, the Bruins tied the match at 1-1 as Henrique Norbiato swept Matthias Hambach in straight sets 6-0, 6-2 at the number two match. They increased their lead to 2-1 as Bruno Silva won at number four over Jan Willem Feilzer 7-5, 6-2. However, DePaul stormed back and won three of the last four matches to clinch the 4-3 victory. The lone BU victory in those last four matches came at number three as Fernando Mussolini beat Sten Leusink 7-5, 7-6.
Belmont (2-11) returns to conference play on Friday as they host Eastern Illinois at 10:00am at Centennial Sportsplex.
