NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont men's tennis team swept a pair of matches from Tennessee State on Wednesday afternoon at the TSU Tennis Courts in Nashville. In the conference match, BU won 4-0, while in the non-conference match, the Bruins were victorious 4-0.
In the designated conference match, Belmont took an early 2-0 after TSU defaulted at positions five and six. Then, the Bruins picked up wins at positions three and four to clinch the 4-0 victory. The two remaining singles matches were halted once the match result was determined. At number three, Fernando Mussolini beat Jared Asher 6-0, 6-0, while at number four, Bruno Sllva defeated Branden McClain by the same 6-0, 6-0 score.
In the designated non-conference match, the Bruins beat the Tigers by the same 4-0 score. After earning wins by default at positions five and six, BU picked up wins at number two (Fernando Mussolini beat William Simmons 6-0, 6-0) and at number three (Bruno Silva beat Jared Asher 6-0, 6-0) to clinch the 4-0 victory. The two remaining singles matches were halted once the match result was determined.
Belmont (7-13, 5-4), who have clinched a berth into next week's OVC Championship, will wrap up their regular season next Monday, April 15th at Lipscomb.
