Women's Tennis Edged by Austin Peay 4-3

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -- The Belmont women's tennis team fell to Austin Peay 4-3 in an OVC match held Sunday in Clarksville, Tennessee.

The homestanding Lady Govs picked up the first point of the match as they won two of the three doubles matches.  Belmont did get a win at number three as Carolyn Caire and Natalia Nunes beat Jovana Karac and Julie Covington 8-2.

In singles, APSU picked up wins at the first three positions to clinch the 4-3 victory over the visiting Bruins.  BU posted wins at positions four, five, and six.  At number four, Fabiana Mersan defeated Vanessa Tavares in three sets 2-6, 6-4, 6-0.  Natalia Nunes won at number five as she beat Jovana Karac 6-1, 6-2, while at number six, Ann Lauren Fiepke defeated Julie Covington 6-1, 6-0.

Belmont (7-9, 3-5) wraps up their home schedule this Saturday as they host UT-Martin at 10:00am at Centennial Sportsplex.
