NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont women's basketball team returns to the confines of the Curb Event Center on Monday night looking to get back into the win column. The Bruins (6-12, 3-2 OVC) host Murray State (8-7, 1-2 OVC) beginning at 6 p.m.
The Racers come to Nashville looking to extend their recent win streak after picking up their first OVC win over Austin Peay on Saturday. Murray State sports an 8-7 mark overall and is 1-2 mark in conference play to stand third in the West Division.
MSU is led in scoring by Keiona Kirby, who is averaging 19.5 points per outing. Jessica Winfrey leads the team in rebounds, grabbing 11.3 per contest.
BU leads the all-time series 6-2, including a come from behind 59-50 win on the road in Murray one year ago. The Bruins have never lost to Murray State in the Curb Event Center, where MSU and this will be the Racer's first trip to the Curb Event Center since it opened in 2003, as the last time the two teams met in Nashville was 2001.
Belmont will look to post a W after stumbling on the road at UT Martin on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, BU slips to 6-12 overall and 3-2 in the conference.
Junior Jordyn Luffman (Lawrenceburg, Tenn.) leads the Bruins in scoring, averaging 14.8 points, and rebounds, pulling down 7.2 per outing. Redshirt freshman Frankie Joubran (Detroit, Mich.) grabs 6.2 boards per game. Junior Adrienne Tarrence (Bowling Green, Ky.) leads the team in assists with a total of 74. Freshman Lauren Thompson (Franklin, Tenn.) and sophomore Blair Bryce (Red Oak, Texas) lead BU in blocks with 10 and nine total, respectively.
