Men's Tennis Falls Short at Bradley

PEORIA, Ill. -- The Belmont men's tennis team fell at Bradley 4-3 in a non-conference match held Sunday at the River City North Club in Peoria, Illinois.

The Bruins won the first point of the match as they won two of the three doubles matches.  After losing at number two, the duo of Mauricio Antun and Hans Nardelli defeated Nico Rakitin and Daniel Tiboldi at number three 6-4.   Then, at number one, Marko Lovrinovic and Cedric Dujacquier clinched the point as they beat Ashton Kalhorn and Hamish Weerasinghe 6-5 in a tiebreaker.

In singles, the Braves earned wins at number six and number four to take the lead at 2-1.  BU went back up 3-2 as Mauricio Antun won at number one over Arthur Romanet 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 and Marko Lovrinovic was victorious at number two over Hamish Weerasinghe 6-3, 6-5.  However, the Bruins could not maintain the momentum and Bradley earned wins at numbers five and three to clinch the 4-3 victory.

Belmont (0-3) is off for two weeks before returning to the court on February 7 as they travel to Chattanooga.
