NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont women's basketball team will look to build on its first OVC win in the Cameron Newbauer era when it returns to the friendly confines of the Curb Event Center this weekend. The Bruins (4-11, 1-1 OVC) host in-state rival Tennessee Tech (4-10, 1-0 OVC) for a mid-afternoon dual on Saturday.
Tennessee Tech enters the young OVC season with one win, but has lost six of its last seven outings. The Golden Eagles stand at 4-10 overall and 1-0 in the conference.
TTU is led in scoring by Diamond Henderson, who is averaging 17.6 points per game. T'Keyah Williams leads the team in rebounds, pulling down 6.6 per contest.
Tennessee Tech leads the all-time series, 26-14. The Golden Eagles have won the last four meetings between the programs, including a win the 2013 OVC Tournament Semifinals.
Belmont returns to the Curb Event Center for the first time since December 12. The Bruins sport a 1-1 mark in OVC play, including picking up an 81-74 win over Southeast Missouri State to close the 2013 portion of this year's schedule, and are 4-11 overall.
Junior Jordyn Luffman (Lawrenceburg, Tenn.) and senior Molly Ernst (Louisville, Ky.) lead the Bruins in scoring, averaging 14.3 and 10.0 points per contest, respectively. Luffman also leads the team in rebounds, pulling down 7.2 per outing. Junior Adrienne Tarrence (Bowling Green, Ky.) leads the team in assists with a total of 57. Freshman Lauren Thompson (Franklin, Tenn.) and sophomore Blair Bryce (Red Oak, Texas) lead BU in blocks with nine and eight total, respectively.
Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m. as part of a doubleheader with the men's basketball team. The contest can be seen live on the OVC Digital Network.
