WKU Game Notes

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont Basketball continues play Saturday night at Western Kentucky.

Belmont had five double figure scorers - including a career-high 27 points from sophomore Taylor Barnette (Lexington, Ky.) - in defeating Trevecca Nazarene, 96-76, Wednesday.

Voice of the Bruins Kevin Ingram is a native of Bowling Green, Ky. and is a 1993 WKU graduate.

Belmont is quite familiar with WKU freshman Rob Marberry. Marberry, a Nashville native who went to FRA, attended several Belmont camps and played pick up games at the Curb Event Center growing up.

Former Bruin Alex Renfroe ('09) started his professional playing career for VEF Riga in Latvia, the same hometown as WKU junior Aleksej Rostov. 

Belmont and Western Kentucky will have three common opponents this year: Austin Peay, Middle Tennessee and Murray State.

Belmont (NCAA Division I era) is 18-17 against current members of Conference USA (FIU 0-1, Florida Atlantic 5-4, Marshall 1-1, Middle Tennessee 10-7, Old Dominion 0-1, Rice 1-0, Southern Miss 0-1, UAB, 0-1, Western Kentucky 1-1).

Belmont's 52-50 victory at Western Kentucky Dec. 1, 1964 is regarded as one of the Bruin program's biggest victories. The Hilltoppers would finish the next two seasons ranked Top 10 nationally. 

This marks the seventh meeting between Belmont and Western Kentucky, first since Jan. 18, 2000. The teams have split two meetings in Belmont's NCAA Division I era.
