Women's Basketball Encourages Fans to Think Pink; Hosts TSU Saturday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont women's basketball team (11-14, 8-4 OVC) looks to maintain its hot streak when it hosts crosstown rival Tennessee State (10-14, 7-4 OVC) on Saturday in the Curb Event Center.

BU is asking all fans to wear pink to Saturday's game in support of breast cancer awareness.  The Greater Nashville affiliate of Susan G. Komen will be on hand with giveaways.  Tickets for breast cancer survivors are complimentary by entering code "survivor."  Survivor supporters and friends of Susan G. Komen may purchase tickets for $3 by entering code "komen."  Tickets for both are available here.

Tennessee State comes into Saturday's contest on a two-game win streak.  TSU stands at 10-14 overall and has a 7-4 mark in the OVC, good for third in the East Division.

TSU is led in scoring by Chelsea Hudson and Rachel Allen, who are averaging 15.7 and 12.0 points per game, respectively.  Hudson also leads the team in rebounds, grabbing 8.5 per contest.

Belmont leads the all-time series, 27-10.  The Lady Tigers won the first meeting between the programs earlier this season, 64-51, at the Gentry Center.

The Bruins enter Saturday's contest in the midst of their longest win streak of the season – four games.  Belmont stands in second place in the East Division, sporting an 8-4 league mark.  The team is 11-14 overall.

Junior Jordyn Luffman (Lawrenceburg, Tenn.) leads the Bruins in scoring, averaging 14.5 points, and rebounds, pulling down 7.0 per outing.  Junior Adrienne Tarrence (Bowling Green, Ky.) leads the team in assists with a total of 100. Freshman Lauren Thompson (Franklin, Tenn.) and sophomore Blair Bryce (Red Oak, Texas) lead BU in blocks with 14 and 13, respectively.

Saturday's matchup is set to tip at 5 p.m.  Fans can watch the action live on the OVC Digital Network and listen live to Dr. Rich Tiner on the play-by-play call via the Bruins Sports Network online.  Live stats and an in-game Twitter feed (@BelmontWBB) will also be available.
