NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont women's tennis team fell to visiting Western Kentucky 5-2 in a non-conference match played Friday indoors at Centennial Sportsplex in Nashville.
The Lady Toppers picked up the first point of the match as they won two of the three doubles matches. The lone BU win came at number two as freshmen Abbie Mather and Laura Van Eeckhoudt beat Carolina Barboza and Gabby Crofford 6-4.
In singles, WKU posted wins at the first three positions and at number six to clinch the 5-2 match victory, their second of the season. The two Belmont wins came at positions four and five. Senior Nikki Maciel won at number four over Emily Pryzstawski 6-3, 6-4, while at number five, Abbie Mather beat Gabby Crofford 6-1, 7-6.
Belmont (1-2) is back in action on Sunday as they play at Tennessee. The match is set for 10:00am CT in Knoxville.
