NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont women's basketball looks to keep its February win streak intact heading into its final home game of the 2013-14 campaign. The Bruins (12-14, 9-4 OVC), who have won their last five games, host Eastern Illinois (11-13, 6-7 OVC) on Saturday afternoon at the Curb Event Center.
EIU comes to Music City having won three of its last four outings to stand at 11-13 overall. The Panthers are 6-7 in the OVC, holding second place in the West Division.
Eastern Illinois has three players averaging in double digits led by Sabina Oroszova, who is netting 17.5 points per contest. Katlyn Payne and Jordyne Crunk follow, contributing 14.3 and 12.5 points per outing, respectively. Oroszova also leads the team in rebounds, grabbing 10.1 per game.
The all-time series is tied between the programs, 2-2. EIU won the last meeting 60-43 one year ago in Charleston, Ill.
The Bruins enter Saturday's dual on a five-game winning streak to stand at 9-4 on top of the OVC's East Division and has a 12-14 mark overall.
Junior Jordyn Luffman (Lawrenceburg, Tenn.) leads the Bruins in scoring, averaging 14.4 points. Redshirt freshman Frankie Joubran (Detroit, Mich.) leads the team in rebounds, pulling down 7.1 per outing. Junior Adrienne Tarrence (Bowling Green, Ky.) leads the team in assists with a total of 102. Freshman Lauren Thompson (Franklin, Tenn.) and sophomore Blair Bryce (Red Oak, Texas) lead BU in blocks with 14 and 13, respectively.
Prior to tipoff, the Bruins will honor Molly Ernst, Jordyn Luffman and student manager Beth Anne Weiler as part of their Senior Day celebration.
Fans in attendance may also participate in Belmont Athletics' Guinness World Record attempt for Most People Unwrapping a Candy Simultaneously at halftime. Participants will receive a complimentary Goo Goo Cluster at halftime.
