NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont women's basketball team hits the road for the final time in the 2013-14 regular season this week. The Bruins (12-15, 9-5 OVC) travel to face off at Eastern Kentucky (15-9, 9-4 OVC) on Monday night.
EKU has won three of its last four outings to stand in the top spot in the East Division with a 9-4 mark in the OVC. Overall, the Colonels boast a 15-9 mark.
Eastern Kentucky is led in scoring by Marie Carpenter, who is adding 22.0 points per contest. Shelly Harper is contributing 10.7 points per game. Harper also leads the team in rebounds, grabbing 6.5 per game.
EKU won the first battle between the programs this season, coming away with a 75-59 win in Nashville. The Colonels lead the all-time series, 8-3, and have won the last two contests.
The Bruins saw their five-game win streak snapped Saturday, when they were held off by visiting Eastern Illinois, 54-48. With the loss, BU slips to second in the East Division with a 9-5 mark and 12-15 overall.
Junior Jordyn Luffman (Lawrenceburg, Tenn.) leads the Bruins in scoring, averaging 14.6 points. Redshirt freshman Frankie Joubran (Detroit, Mich.) leads the team in rebounds, pulling down 7.4 per outing. Junior Adrienne Tarrence (Bowling Green, Ky.) leads the team in assists with a total of 105. Freshman Lauren Thompson (Franklin, Tenn.) and sophomore Blair Bryce (Red Oak, Texas) lead BU in blocks with 14 apiece.
