CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Belmont men's tennis team posted their first win of the season as they defeated Chattanooga 4-0 in a match held Friday in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Belmont earned the first point of the match as they swept two of the three doubles matches. They won at number three as Henrik Claesson and Cedric Dujacquier beat Austin Boaz and Luke Saunders 6-1. Then, at number one, Mauricio Antun and Marko Lovrinovic defeated John Peacey and Jorge Varon 6-4.
In singles, the Bruins posted wins at positions one, two, and four to clinch the 4-0 road victory. At number one, Antun defeated Varon 6-1, 6-4, while at number two, Lovrinovic beat Pavels Grigorjevs 6-3, 6-3. The victory was clinched for BU when Martijn Verberne defeated Gino Delavalle 6-2, 3-6, 6-1. The other three singles matches were not finished.
Belmont (1-4) returns to the court on Sunday, February 23 when they host Cumberland (Tenn.) at the Wildwood Tennis Club.
