NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont women's basketball team will look to build on its recent winning momentum heading into its longest homestand of the season. The Bruins (10-14, 7-4) host in-state rival Austin Peay (9-15, 6-5 OVC) on Monday night in the Curb Event Center. BU is also hosting a Food Drive in conjunction with the game, benefiting the Eakins Elementary School pantry.
Austin Peay saw its four-game win streak snapped on the road at Tennessee State on Saturday, falling to 9-15 overall and 6-5 in the conference.
APSU is led in scoring by Tiasha Gray and Kristen Stainback, who are averaging 14.8 and 11.8 points per game. Jennifer Nwokocha leads the team in rebounds, grabbing 6.3 per contest.
Belmont leads the all-time series, 6-5, including a win one year ago in overtime on the road at Clarksville.
The Bruins picked up their third consecutive win after completing a weekend sweep at Morehead State, marking the sixth time this season four Bruins reached double figures in a victory. Belmont now stands at 10-14 on the season and 7-4 in league play.
Junior Jordyn Luffman (Lawrenceburg, Tenn.) leads the Bruins in scoring, averaging 14.6 points, and rebounds, pulling down 6.9 per outing. Junior Adrienne Tarrence (Bowling Green, Ky.) leads the team in assists with a total of 99. Freshman Lauren Thompson (Franklin, Tenn.) and sophomore Blair Bryce (Red Oak, Texas) lead BU in blocks with 13 each.
Fans who donate two (2) non-perishable food items at the Curb Event Center Box Office will receive a single basketball game ticket at the group ticket rate of $3 per adult and $1 per child (ages 3-17).
