NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont men's tennis team earned a 4-3 comeback victory over Austin Peay in an OVC match held Saturday at Centennial Sportsplex in Nashville.
The match started with singles. After BU defaulted at number six due to an injury, the Govs extended their lead to 3-0 as they earned wins at number two and number four. But the Bruins stormed back. First, Mauricio Antun beat Jasmin Ademovic 6-4, 6-3 at number one. Then, at number three, Cedric Dujacquier defeated Aleksas Tverijonas 6-4, 6-3. Hans Nardelli tied the match at three as he earned a three-set comeback victory over James Mitchell 2-6, 7-6, 6-4. Nardelli's win forced the two teams to play doubles to determine the victory.
In doubles, BU's Cedric Dujacquier and Henrik Claesson won at number three over James Mitchell and Manuel Montenegro 8-3. APSU picked up a win at number two as Iago Seffrin and Dimitar Ristovski beat Martijn Verberne and Hans Nardelli 8-2. The Bruins clinched the doubles point and the match victory as Mauricio Antun and Marko Lovrinovic won at number one over Jasmin Ademovic and Aleksas Tverijonas 8-7 (7-3).
The men's tennis team (4-8, 2-0) returns to the court on Sunday as they play at Murray State.
