BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The Belmont men's tennis team remained unbeaten in conference play as they defeated Tennessee Tech 4-3 in an OVC match played Saturday in Brentwood, Tennessee.
The Golden Eagles took the early 1-0 lead as they won the doubles point. TTU won at positions at two and three to clinch the point. Belmont did pick up a win at number one doubles as Mauricio Antun and Marko Lovrinovic beat Oleksly Arovin and Alberto Esteban 8-1. The win moved the duo's record to 20-2 for the season.
In singles, the Bruins stormed back. After going down 2-0 due to a default at number six, BU posted wins in four of the five matches to clinch the 4-3 victory over Tennessee Tech. At number one, Mauricio Antun beat Oleksly Arovin 7-6, 7-6, while at number two, Marko Lovrinovic defeated Alberto Esteban 6-4, 6-2. Cedric Dujacquier remained undefeated in OVC play as he won at number three over Gagan Jain 6-2, 6-2. Henrik Claesson clinched the win for Belmont as he defeated Alvaro Cintas 6-4, 7-6.
Belmont (8-8, 6-0) will be back in action tomorrow (Sunday) as they host Jacksonville State at 1:00pm at Brentwood Academy.
