NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont men's tennis team suffered their second loss of the season as they fell to rival Lipscomb 5-2 in a non-conference match played indoors at Richland Country Club in Nashville.
The Bisons picked up the first point of the match as they captured two of the three doubles points. The lone BU win came at number three as sophomore Bruno Russo and freshman Caio Niel beat Daniel Hernandez and Thais Minet 6-4.
In singles, the Bruins posted wins at the top two positions, but Lipscomb won at positions 3-6 to clinch the 5-2 win over Belmont. Senior Mauricio Antun won at number one over Rob Mitchell in three sets: 6-2, 6-7, 6-0, while at number two, senior Marko Lovrinovic defeated Alex Pavel in straight sets 7-5, 6-3.
Belmont (4-2) is back in action on Saturday, February 7th as they play at Xavier (OH).
