CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont women's golf team is in fourth place after round one of the APSU Intercollegiate held Monday at Clarksville Country Club in Clarksville, Tennessee.
On a warm, sunny day in Tennessee's Queen City, the Bruins posted a team score of 319 to finish the day in fourth place. Lipscomb has the team lead with a score of 305, while Tennessee Tech and Austin Peay are tied for second at 313.
Belmont had three golfers among the top-20 after 18 holes. Junior Abbie Gregory is tied for eighth place after carding a five-over par 77. She is four shots behind individual leader Samantha Griffith, who posted a 73. Sophomore Mallory Sullivan is one shot back of Gregory and in a tie for 11th with a 78. Junior Megan Heath is tied for 19th place after shooting a score of 79.
Other Belmont scores from round one included: freshman Emma Kate Liu (T-37, 85) and redshirt sophomore Maddie Williams (T-37, 85).
Two Bruins are competing as individuals. Redshirt sophomore Cori Burns is tied for 19th at 79, while junior Alexi Bevans is tied for 35th at 84.
The second and final round will begin Tuesday morning with an 8:30am shotgun start.
