NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont volleyball (9-10, 6-2 OVC) heads down the boulevard tonight to face off with Lipscomb (13-8, 6-1 A-SUN) for the second half of the Battle of the Boulevard series.
In the first meeting of the season Lipscomb took home the victory in a very tight five set match. Belmont will now head down the road to close out the Battle of the Boulevard series at Lipscomb. The overall record between Belmont and Lipscomb has Belmont leading 26-12. Lipscomb is currently tied for first in the Atlantic Sun Conference with a record of 6-1. Redshirt sophomore Middle Blocker Jewell Dobson was recently named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association player of the week after registering 37 kills with five blocks and four digs in a pair of wins for the Bisons.
Redshirt sophomore Emma Price (Fort Mill, SC) was recently named the OVC Setter of the Week. Price recorded 70 assists for an average of 11.67 per set leading the team to a .198 hitting percentage.
As a team Belmont is ranked 10th nationally in aces per set. Sophomore Arianna Person (Lenexa, Kan.) is ranked 14th nationally in total aces while Price is followed behind ranking 56th in total aces.
The Bruins are currently tied for second in the Ohio Valley Conference with Eastern Illinois. Both squads have a record of 6-2 while OVC leader Murray State stays undefeated in conference with eight wins.
