Senior Weekend

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont volleyball (11-11, 8-2 OVC) will play in the Curb Event Center for one last weekend this season as the team recognize their two seniors Jocelyn Youngdahl (Stillwater, Minn.) and Regan Kennamer (Huntsville, Ala.).

"I have been with Jocelyn and Regan since they have arrived here at Belmont in 2012.  I was the assistant coach then; who in their freshman year was able to capture the OVC Tournament Championship," said Head Coach Tony Howell. "The chance to watch them grow from 2012 to now in 2015 has been a great blessing of mine.  They have both grown into strong independent young ladies who are ready to tackle what the world brings their way.  I know the Lord has the both of them in the palm of His hands.  Both young ladies have a very promising future ahead of them and I am privileged to just be a part of watching them grow.  I am very proud and happy for them and may God continue to bless each step they take."

The Bruins will face the Eagles of Morehead State (9-15, 6-4 OVC) on Friday Oct. 30 at 6:00 p.m. CT and the Colonels of Eastern Kentucky (7-19, 6-4 OVC) on Saturday Oct. 31 at 4:00 p.m. CT.

"Friday and Saturday will be exciting matches this weekend because both teams are making waves in conference play and are competing at a high level," said Howell. "These matches will be exciting and challenging at the same time."

The first time Belmont met Morehead this season the teams battled in five sets with the Bruins coming out on top with the victory. Morehead is currently tied for fourth in the conference and is looking for a few more wins to solidify their spot in the OVC tournament in a few weeks.

"Morehead has won the last three conference matches and are doing some very good things on the court," said Howell. "I know they are working hard in the gym and in matches. I am sure they have been evaluating us and creating a game plan much as we have, Friday will be a very good match."

In the first meeting between Eastern Kentucky and Belmont the Bruins came out victorious in a quick three set match. But the Colonels have proved to be contenders throughout the season as they are also tied for fourth in the conference and vying for a spot in the OVC tournament.

"Eastern Kentucky has won the last four conferences matches so they are doing some great things on the court as well," said Howell. "Like Morehead they too have been working exceptionally hard to get to where they are in conference play. Saturday will be an exciting match as well especially since it is Senior Day. I give both programs very high respect for their history and continued hard work to get where they are in the season."

At both matches this weekend fans will have a chance to wear their costumes for free t-shirts and candy as well as there will be a giveaway of a $50 Target gift card both days and a chance to play in Halloween games at intermission for cash prizes.
