NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont volleyball (13-11, 10-2 OVC) hit the road once again as they head to Jacksonville State (13-18, 3-9 OVC) and Tennessee Tech (6-19, 4-8 OVC) this weekend.
The Gamecocks stay at home once again after a 1-1 performance last weekend with a victory over Austin Peay but fell to Murray State despite taking a set from the Racers. Jacksonville State is now 13-18 overall and 3-9 in conference ranking 11th in the conference. Sophomore Charis Ludtke and Sophomore Allyson Zuhlke lead the Gamecock offense with 279 and 278 kills respectively, followed closely by senior Emily Rutherford who has recorded 264 kills this season. Sophomore Hannah Kirk leads the defense with 404 digs while sophomore Jennifer Hart has dished out 961 assists.
The Golden Eagles stay at home after a 1-1 performance last weekend, seeing a victory over Austin Peay, while falling to Murray State who currently sits atop the conference standings. Tech is 6-19 overall and 4-8 in conference and currently tied for eighth in the OVC. Senior Cody Dodd continues to lead Tech accumulating 385 kills, 257 digs, 51 blocks, and 42 service aces so far this season. Junior Sharon Anderson has dished out 793 assists this season while Junior Kennedy Wade leads the defense with 363 digs.
In the last meeting of these teams Belmont took home both victories, Tennessee Tech in four and Jacksonville State in three. Senior Jocelyn Youngdahl (Stillwater, Minn.) recorded 13 kills for an average of .345 by sophomore Arianna Person (Lenexa, Kan.) led the offense with 18 kills against Tennessee Tech. Person led the way once again against Jacksonville State with 15 kills for an average of .355 while redshirt freshman Alexa Nichols (Walton, Ky.) followed closely behind with 11 kills for an average of .400. Sophomore Emma Price (Fort Mill, SC) recorded 78 assists against the two teams and the team recorded 20 blocks.
The Bruins will face the Gamecocks on Friday, Nov. 6 at 7:00pm CT and the Golden Eagles on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 4:00pm CT. There will be live stats and video feed available for both matches at belmontbruins.com.
