Eastern Kentucky Game Notes

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University men's basketball hosts Eastern Kentucky Thursday night.

The Bruins (16-10, 8-5 OVC) defeated Morehead State, 58-57, Feb. 14. Sophomore Evan Bradds (Jamestown, Ohio) scored the game-winner with 11 seconds left. Bradds continues to lead the nation in field goal percentage (.706), shooting 77 percent in OVC play.

The Colonels (16-9, 8-4 OVC) and Bruins met in the 2014 OVC Championship. Eastern Kentucky won, 79-73, denying Belmont the opportunity to become the first NCAA Division I men's basketball program since Gonzaga (2004-07) to win four consecutive regular season and tournament conference championships.

Belmont and Eastern Kentucky each made the 2007 NCAA Tournament, playing respective first round games at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Winston-Salem, N.C. Belmont faced East No. 2 seed Georgetown, while Eastern Kentucky faced No. 1 seed North Carolina.

Former Belmont forward Keaton Belcher ('10) served as a graduate assistant at Eastern Kentucky in 2010-11.

Belmont senior Reece Chamberlain (Goodlettsville, Tenn.) was named finalist for the Senior CLASS Award this week. He becomes the fifth Belmont men's basketball player so honored. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their athletic platforms to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

This marks the ninth meeting between Belmont and Eastern Kentucky. The Colonels won, 81-69, on Feb. 5 in Richmond, Ky.
