NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Belmont Baseball welcomes Middle Tennessee State University on Tuesday at Rose Park. First pitch is slated for a 4PM game start.
Last weekend the Bruins opened their first weekend of Ohio Valley Conference play in Richmond Kentucky. They are coming into the week off a 2 game series with Eastern Kentucky University. The Bruins swept the series from the Colonels winning game one 11-4 and winning game two 8-3.
Senior Dan Ludwig (Naperville, Ill.) started on the mound in game one for the Bruins. Ludwig pitched a complete game, the third of his career in the first game on Saturday, striking out six and only walking one. At the plate, Senior Matt Beaty (Dresden, Tenn.) had a record setting double in game one. His double placed him in Belmont Baseball's record book for career doubles. Beaty is now tied for tenth with 45 doubles.
Starting on the mound for the Bruins staff day will be senior, Patrick McGrath (Jackson, Tenn.). McGrath is 1-1 with 6.59 ERA. He has struck out a total of 12 batters in 13.2 innings pitched.
Middle Tennessee enters the weekend after their opening conference weekend in Conference USA. The Blue Raiders swept University of Alabama at Birmingham at their home field. The Blue Raiders are now 11-6 and 3-0 in conference. Leading at the plate for the Raiders is right fielder Brad Jarreau who is batting .397 on the season with 25 hits with 9 RBI. SENIOR? Ronnie Jebavy is hitting .368 also with 25 hits including one homerun homer, his 11-12 in stolen bases.
Starting on the mound for MTSU will be RHP Heath Slatton. Slatton has a 1-4 record with 4 starts. He enters the mid-week contest with 10.38 ERA and 11 strikeouts.
