NASHVILLE, Tenn.-- The Belmont Bruins head to Bowling Green, Ky. on Tuesday to take on the WKU Hopptoppers. This is the second game of 2 against WKU this season.
The WKU Hilltoppers are now 5-5 as they enter the week. WKU's Anderson Miller was just name C-USA Hitter of the week. In their 5 game streak, Miller had at least one hit at every game and is batter .355 for the Toppers. Probable starter on the mound will be LHP Ryan Thurston (0-1) he has made 3 appearances on the mound an dhas struck out 9 batters in 7.2 innings pitched.
Leading at the plate for the Bruins is Tyler Fullerton (Murfreesboro, Tenn.). He was an integral leader for the Bruins this past week scoring 2 runs on 6 hits and recording 6 RBI. In Saturday's game against Akron Fullerton had a hand in all three runs scored; started with an RBI sac fly in the first to plate one, his next at-bat he hit a leadoff homerun, he was later hit by pitch and was driven home by a single. This week Fullerton slugged .667 with an on base percentage of .417. Starting on the mound for the Bruins will be RHP Dom Veltri (Clarksville, Tenn.) This will be Veltri's first start on the mound for the Bruins, his record is 0-1 and in 4.0 innings pitched, he has struck out 2 batters.
In the first game of the home and home series the Bruins defeated the Hillltoppers 9-1. This game is an opportunity for the Bruins to take both games.
