NASHVILLE, Tenn.-- Belmont Baseball is set to host the southern Illinois Salukis tomorrow 4 PM at Rose Park.
The Salukis enter the mid-week contest with a 2-12 record. As a team the Salukis are batting .225. Greg Lambert leads at the plate with 16 hits and 8 RBI. Probable starter for SIU will be sophomore RHP Austin McPheron. He is 0-1 on the season with 3 appearances on the mound.
The Bruins enter the mid-week conference now 4-8 on the season. Leading at the plate this weekend was Senior, Matt Beaty (Dresden, Tenn.). Beaty was a powerhouse for the Bruins this past week recording a .524 batting average with a 1.000 slugging percentage and .583 on base percentage. 7 of the 11 hits Beaty recorded were for extra bases. On Sunday in game one, Beaty recorded 4 RBIs on 2 hits, and came back in game two going 4 for 5 at the plate with 2 singles and 2 doubles. LHP Patrick McGrath will get the start of the mound for the Bruins. This is his 2nd start of the season and 5th appearance. He is 0-1 for the season and has struck out 5 batters.
