Box Score JACKSONVILLE, Ala.— A deep early hole plagued Belmont Baseball Saturday, as the Bruins dropped game two of the series, 9-2, to the Jacksonville State Gamecocks at Rudy Abbott Field.
Bruins tacked a run on the board in the top of the first with a hit by Matt Beaty (Dresden, Tenn.) who placed a single through the right side. Beaty advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored off a single to right center by Tyler Fullerton (Murfreesboro, Tenn.)
Aaron Quillen (Kingsport, Tenn.) received the start on the mound for the Bruins. Quillen pitched 4.1 innings and struck out two batters while allowing six earned runs on six hits.
Jacksonville State had a large first inning scoring five runs on four hits and then continued to tack on runs throughout the game.
In the top of the sixth, Tyler Fullerton hit a solo home run over the left field fence for the second Bruin run of the game.
Christopher Carroll (Hendersonville, Tenn.) came in for relief on the mound and pitched two innings, struck out two and held the Gamecocks scoreless.
Bruins recorded 6 hits total today, also recording hits were; Drew Ferguson with a single and a double, and Tyler Walsh (Evansville, Ind.) with a single.
The Bruins drop to 21-20, and 10-9 in the OVC, they return to Rudy Abbott Field tomorrow for the last faceoff of the series. First pitch is scheduled for 1 PM and will be covered on the Bruins Sports Network.
