Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn.-- Even with a seven run inning in the bottom of the fourth, the Bruins fell to the Memphis Tigers 11-8 on Monday.
Memphis took an early lead in the first inning plating four runs on three hits. The Bruins fought back but fell short leaving many on base until the bottom of the seventh.
In the bottom of the 7th, the Bruins took the lead from the Tigers plating seven runs on four hits. Joe Stovall (Collierville, Tenn.) started off the hitting for the inning with a single through the left side. Brennan Washington (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) followed at the plate drawing a walk. With runners on first and second and two outs, Alec Diamond (Kennesaw, Ga.) provided with a two out single up the middle plating the first run. With two outs and bases loaded, Matt Beaty (Dresden, Tenn.) stepped up to the plate and hit a far double to left center scoring three runs and tying the game at four a piece. Tyler Fullerton (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) followed with a double of his own down the left field line plating Beaty and pushing the Bruins to a one run lead. The last two runs plated off an error in left field to push the Bruins to a three run lead.
The Bruins tacked on another run in the seventh off a sacrifice fly, but the Bruins ultimately fell short to the Tigers 13 hits.
The Bruins, now 16-13, travel up to Southern Illinois to face the Southern Illinois Salukis in game two of their home and home series. First pitch is scheduled for 5 PM at Itchy Jones Stadium.
