Off to Tech

NASHVILLE, Tenn.-- The Bruins will continue their road trip by heading to Cookeville today to face the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles in a three game Ohio Valley Conference Series. 

The Bruins (25-22, 13-11) will begin their key three game series tonight at Bush Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6PM against the Golden Eagles(22-23, 13-10). All three games will be covered on the Bruins Sports Network as well as the OVC Digital Network.

The Schedule for the Weekend is as follows with Probable Starters:

 

Friday, May 8th

Bush Stadium 6PM

Belmont: SR. LHP Dan Ludwig, 4-4, 4.75 ERA

TTU: RHP Chris Chism, 6-3, 4.62 ERA

Saturday, May 9th

Bush Stadium 6PM

Belmont: JR. RHP Aaron Quillen, 4-4 4.14 ERA

TTU: RHP Evan Fraliex, 4-2, 5.71 ERA

Sunday, May 10th

Bush Stadium 1PM

Belmont: SR. LHP Patrick McGrath, 7-3, 4.45 ERA

TTU: TBA

 

Leading at the plate for the Bruins is senior, Drew Ferguson (Knoxville, Tenn.) who is currently batting .388  and leading the team with 73 hits, 22 doubles, and 21 stolen bases. Ferguson is also in the top ten of 10 different OVC Categories and Top 25 of 10 NCAA categories.

Patrick McGrath (Jackson, Tenn.) will pick up his second weekend start this weekend and is tied for first in the OVC with 7 wins. This past week McGrath picked up OVC player of the week accolades for his two starts and wins on the mound last week.

Bruin catcher, Alec Diamond, (Kennesaw, Ga.) was named to the Capital One Academic All-District 3 Baseball Team this past week. 

Leading at the plate for the Golden Eagles is Tyler Brazelton with a .333 batting Average. Freshman, Ryan Flick, the designated hitter leads the team with 49 RBI and a .542 slugging percentage. Tech enters the weekend after a series win against Southeast Missouri who is leading the conference with 20 wins. The Golden Eagles dropped the weekend opener but were able to defeat the Redhawks with persistence at the plate and on the mound after two mid-game comebacks.
