Box Score OXFORD, Miss. - Belmont fell to Ole Miss this evening in three straight sets, 25-14, 25-15 and 27-25. Sophomore Arianna Person (Lenexa, Kan.) led the offense this evening with 10 kills. The Bruins are now 2-5 so far this season.
"We had a rough first two sets," said Head Coach Tony Howell. "We were in all honesty not ourselves tonight. We learned form the first two sets and started on our way back by pushing Ole Miss to the limit in the third."
Despite dropping the first two sets by at least ten points the Bruins came back out of the intermission with fires blazing. The team fought point for point in the third set finally dropping the finale by a score of 27-25.
"It was a great opportunity to play ole miss, they are a great team and will do well this season," said Howell. "The more we learn and improve the stronger we will be."
Sophomore Ellie Ivancich (Naperville, Ill.) led the defense with 11 digs and Redshirt Freshman Alexa Nichols (Walton, Ky.) led the defense at the net with 3 blocks. Senior Jocelyn Youngdahl (Stillwater, Minn.) and Sophomore Brie Lewis (Stillwell, Kan.) both recorded six kills on the evening. Lewis finished the night hitting for an average of .277.
The Bruins come back tomorrow with two match against Southern Mississippi and Buffalo. Match time are set for 1:00pm and 7:30pm respectively, both central time. Live stats will be available for both matches on belmontbruins.com.
