Crosstown Rivalry

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont volleyball (5-8, 2-0 OVC) will return home Tuesday, Sept. 29 to play crosstown rival, and fellow conference member, Tennessee State (5-9, 0-2 OVC). The Bruins return home after defeating Eastern Kentucky (3-0) and Morehead State (3-2) on the road this past weekend. First serve is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. central time.

Tennessee State is led offensively by junior outside hitter Chloe Watson who as recorded 184 kills and averages 3.54 kills per set. Sophomore setter Samantha Beltran has dished out 447 assists for an average of 8.6 per set. Defensively at the net freshman middle Ayanna Chase is in the lead with 39 blocks followed closely by sophomore middle Haley Hampton with 28 and Watson with 33. In the back senior libero Madison Halterman is leading the defense with 229 digs.

Sophomore Arianna Person (Lenexa, Kan.) is ranked amongst the best in the conference in multiple categories. Person is third in kills averaging 3.59 per set, second in service aces averaging 0.45 per set, and third in points averaging 4.19 per set. Sophomore Emma Price (Fort Mill, SC) is ranked third in the conference for assists with an average of 9.42 per set.
