DICKSON, Tenn. - - Belmont University men's golf stands fourth following Monday's play in the 2016 F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate.
It was a strange day for the Bruins on the devilish, yet attackable, Greystone Golf Club layout. After an uncharacteristic morning round which saw its two individual, 'non-team' scores card low rounds, Belmont rebounded with the low team total of the afternoon session (293).
The Bruins (303-293-596) are looking up at team leader Missouri State heading into the final 18.
Among many storylines, sophomore Parker Buck (New Braunfels, Texas) stands in second place at two-under par 142 after sparkling rounds of 69 and 73. Kiko Rosete of Mercer leads through 36 holes at five-under par 139.
Junior Logan Matthews (Franklin, Tenn.) and freshman Win Temple (Brentwood, Tenn.) are also in the Top 20 at 147 and 148, respectively.
Sophomore Daniel Booker (Dyersburg, Tenn.) carded a even-par 72 in the afternoon loop, while freshman Nate Thomson (Greendale, Wis.) went out in 71.
In addition, freshman McCullough Pickens (Sea Island, Ga.) aced the Par 3 11th on day one, while junior Noah Trenkler (Hendersonville, Tenn.) nearly made a double eagle 2 on the Par 5 17th.
More fireworks are expected in Tuesday's final round.
