KENNESAW, Ga. – The Belmont men's golf team stands in eighth place after day one of the Pinetree Intercollegiate held Monday at Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Belmont carded two rounds of 301 to finish the day in sixth place with a score of 602. Iowa State leads the tournament at 580. Host Kennesaw State in second at 582, while Central Arkansas is third at 583.
Two Bruins rank among the top-15 after 36 holes. Freshman Nate Thomson is tied for 12th place at 147. He posted rounds of 74 and 73 on day one. He is 11 shots behind individual leader, Daniel Ieremia of Iowa State. Junior Noah Trenkler is one shot back of Thomson and in a tie for 15th place at 148. The Hendersonville, Tennessee native shot two rounds of 74 on Monday.
Other Belmont scores from day one included: junior Logan Matthews (T-33, 154), sophomore Parker Buck (T-33, 154), and freshman Win Temple (T-62, 166).
