KENNESAW, Ga. – The Belmont men's golf team wrapped up its fall season with a sixth place finish at the Pinetree Intercollegiate held this week at Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw, Georgia.
The Bruins carded a team score of 303 in Tuesday's final round to finish the event in sixth place at 905. Host and #34 Kennesaw State won the team title with a 54-hole mark of 862. Iowa State finished second at 875, while Central Arkansas was third at 881.
Two Belmont golfers finished among the top-25. Freshman Nate Thomson posted his best finish as a collegian as he finished in a tie for 13th place at 222. The Greendale, Wisconsin native shot a 75 in the final round to finish 13 shots behind medalist Denzel Ieremia of Iowa State (209). Junior Logan Matthews carded a one under 71 in the final round to finish in a tie for 23rd place at 225. It was his best finish of the fall campaign.
Other Belmont scores from the tournament included: junior Noah Trenkler (T-28, 228), sophomore Parker Buck (T-37, 232), and redshirt freshman Win Temple (T-61, 245).
This event concludes the fall season for the men's golf team. In five events, they posted four top-10 finishes. They will begin their spring season on February 20-21, 2017 at The Invitational at Savannah Harbor in Savannah, Georgia.
